Cardinia Shire Council is proud to partner with AusCycling to host 'Learn to ride a bike'.

Date: Monday 3rd March 2025

Location: Ron Andrews Reserve, Clifford Drive, Pakenham. Meet at the playground.

Time: 4.30pm-5.30pm & 5.45pm-6.45pm

Duration: 1 hour for each session

Price: Free

Please note: There is no public toilet at this reserve. The closest toilet is located at Coles on McGregor Road Pakenham. 

There will be limited loan bikes available for both timeslots. However, we strongly encourage you to bring your own bike, helmet, enclosed shoes and water bottle.

AusBike is Australia’s national program designed to give kids the essential skills to experience the freedom, fun and adventure of life on a bike. The program has been designed by expert coaches and is delivered by accredited instructors.

The sessions are flexible and designed to teach kids fundamental skills in locations ranging from basketball courts, indoor halls, local pump tracks, footy ovals and more.

AusBike caters for kids with all levels of bike riding experience – whether they’re just off training wheels, or further down the track with their cycling journey.

The program is fun, interactive and progressive. AusBikers will work their way through a program of core skills, progressing from beginner to expert and will graduate with the skills and confidence for a lifetime of adventures on two wheels

AusBike is here to get kids aged 5 to 12 riding safely and confidently. Our engaging, skill-based program teaches your child essential bike riding skills, road safety smarts and basic bike maintenance tips.

Our program is designed for all skill levels wobbly beginners to capable riders. Our qualified instructors create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, taking the pressure off parents and allowing kids to progress at their own pace.

AusBike sessions are flexible and can be held in a variety of locations, including indoor halls, basketball courts, footy ovals, and local pump tracks. Through a progressive curriculum, kids will work their way from beginner to expert, ultimately graduating with the skills and confidence to embark on a lifetime of cycling adventures on two wheels.

AusBike Gear (levels)

1st Gear
Aimed at kids who are relatively new to bike riding, on or off training wheels.

2nd Gear
Aimed at kids who can confidently ride on their own and use their brakes to stop.

3rd Gear
Aimed at kids who can confidently balance on their bike, ride one-handed to signal in traffic and brake safely at any speed.

4th Gear
Aimed at kids who can confidently ride their bike in many environments.
