-> Do I have to become a member to sail?

Yes, due to insurance purposes, all attendees must be a registered member of the AUSC.

-> How can I become a member?

-> What membership option is best suited for me?

  • Our membership page describes in great detail what each membership option entails.
  • We recommend our ‘Racing Membership’ as the all-inclusive package!

-> I don’t have any sailing experience, is that okay?

  • People of all abilities are welcome at the AUSC!
  • We pride ourselves on nurturing beginners to intermediate-level sailors.
  • As a safety requirement though, sailing members must be competent swimmers. Contact us for further info!

-> Where is the AUSC based?

Our sailing activities are based out of the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA), North Haven.

-> How do I get to the CYCSA?

  • We are located at the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA), North Haven!
  • The CYCSA is a 30-minute drive from the Adelaide University North Terrace campus.
  • Public transport is available. The train takes you from the city to Osborne, which is about a 15-minute walk from the club.
  • Depending on availability, members may informally arrange carpooling with other AUSC members!

-> What days can I sail?

  • As of August 2024, the AUSC sails every Thursday night from 3:30pm and every first Sunday of the month.
  • We frequently compete in races throughout the year, which are exclusive to our racing members!
  • Other regular opportunities may become available - keep posted on our Events page and social media!

-> What should I wear?

This is our recommendation but it is completely up to your personal preference!

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting wet (sports shorts or leggings, outdoor pants, quick dry shirt, etc…)
  • Mid-layer (Fleece, jumper)
  • Base layer (thermals)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen)
  • Water bottle
  • Non-marking shoes.

-> Can I bring a friend?

You are welcome to bring a friend as long as they have…

  1.  A membership with the AUSC (trial memberships are also available)
  2.  RSVP’d to the weekly training form
