BEGINNER CAMP - ALL MEMBERS WELCOME!

Join us for a kind of climbing that doesn't involve ropes, needs next to no instruction, and is open to everyone. The AUMC Bouldering Camp will take place in two areas - Rocky Paddock Campground, which has great easy to medium bouldering, and Enchanted Forest, greater Adelaide's premier bouldering spot. No walk-in needed for the first area - we're camping next to the boulders themselves!
If you live close to Mount Crawford and don't want to meet us at the city, contact me (Daniel Gensemer) after signing up for the event and I can give you information and organise gear pickup for you.
Bouldering
For those who haven't done it, bouldering is a form of climbing very low off the ground (generally 1-4 metres) where falls are protected with bouldering pads. We're visiting two of the Adelaide area's best bouldering spots on this trip. Test your skills or just have fun.
Stargazing
A near full moon will light the sky in the evening. One of our members is bringing a telescope, allowing you to see it up close.
Bushwalking
There are many bushwalks around Rocky Paddock Campground. A sunset or night hike could be done to the Tower Lookout, perhaps the best viewpoint in Mount Crawford Forest.
Camping
Our overnight campsite is equipped with a toilets and sinks for washing dishes.
As a member of the Mountain Club, you can hire gear for free on this trip. So don’t worry if you don’t have a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, stove, shoes, chalk, or crashpads (though if you do bring those things you're amazing).
Getting there
We are carpooling to Onkaparinga from the University. Meet at the lawn in front of the Unibar at 11am on Saturday so we can organise club gear and carpooling, with a focus of reaching the campsite around 1PM.
