Port River beginner day paddle
Details
Event information
We will explore the estuaries of the Port Adelaide River, do some Dolphin spotting and maybe visit the Ships Graveyard. If you have done basic skills kayaking with AUMC or equivalent, you are welcome to come on this trip.
You need to wear suitable clothing including bathers, shorts or leggings, boatshoes or sneakers which can get wet (not thongs, sandals or crocs), a rashie or long sleeved synthetic shirt and hat.
Bring a towel and change of clothes, waterbottle, lunch and snacks. Sunglasses on a leash are useful. Also bring a fleece and a light windproof jacket if it is cold. AUMC will supply kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and spraydecks. There is a toilet block at the launch site.
Meet at the Uni boatshed Foreman St West Beach at 9am. We will share transport. It is expected that you will start and finish at the Boatshed, and help wash the boats and gear after use.
If you do not drive, you can catch a bus (J1) from the city. Get off at Tapleys Hill Rd Stop 13 and walk across to the Boatsheds (next to AU Hockey ground). One of us will give you a lift back to the city afterwards
