MAG Coaches' Update   9/07/2020

Dear MAG Coaches

It has been a significant period of uncertainty and time away from clubs and coaching during the COVID-19 restrictions. I hope all members, their families, and associated clubs have successfully navigated these turbulent times, remaining safe and healthy.

Hopefully multiple clubs are now transitioning back into their facilities, or have their plans ready to do so when appropriate to their club's specific circumstances.

As restrictions relating to the pandemic are being eased, clubs are resuming their classes and MAG Sports Management Committee has been able to start planning for the remainder of 2020, with some level of confidence. This email is intended to bring MAG coaches up to date with those plans.

Competitions

Two MAG competitions are scheduled for the remainder of 2020. At this stage these remain to be confirmed closer to the date, depending upon the level of interest among clubs and progress with easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Coaches should make sure their accreditation requirements are up to date for the following competitions:

• MAG Interclub #2 (including Teams Challenge) - Friday 9 October (Levels 5-10) and Saturday 10 October (Levels 1-4).
• MAG State Championships (incorporating Country Championships) - Friday 6 November (Levels 5-10) and Saturday 7 November (Levels 1-4)

Coaching courses

There are five coaching courses scheduled for the remainder of 2020

• Adv Mod 1 - Sunday 9th Aug at Payneham Youth Centre
• Adv Mod 1 - Saturday 24th Oct at SA State Gymnastics Centre
• MAG Adv (Mod 2-4) - Sunday 25th Oct at SA State Gymnastics Centre
• MAG Intermediate - Sunday 22nd Nov at SA State Gymnastics Centre
• Adv Mod 1 - Saturday 28th Nov at SA State Gymnastics Centre

Accreditation and updating

When COVID-19 restrictions first came into place, Gymnastics Australia paused coaches' Technical Membership expiry dates, effectively pushing them forward while clubs remained closed. With clubs now reopening your Technical Membership will resume as normal.  Gymnastics Australia has added one further month to allow coaches time to check their expiry dates and confirm updating requirements. If you have not already checked those details, please click here to log into your GOL Account and do so.

Gymnastics SA is also still providing online updating opportunities. These would be especially beneficial for coaches requiring updating points for accreditation renewal before the above courses, or to otherwise expand their coaching knowledge in general.

* This is also a reminder that all coaches renewing their accreditation, must complete the 2020 Renewal Child Safe Reporting Online Course, in order to access the Renew Tab on their GOL Account page. This course can be found in the Learning Centre section of the LMS.
