Artistic Swimming is proud to announce the new program aligning our coaching and officiating with international standards.
The foundation of all the programming is the skill curriculum which supports the artistic swimming skill development with the physical needs of the sport. From this skills curriculum, the Artistic Swimming Synchro Skills Program, Judge Course, and Coaching Courses were developed.
The Synchro Skills Program is fun, engaging and allows both athletes and coaches to progress the development of their technical skills:
Physical Preparation Curriculum outlines the ideal physical preparation progressions for world-class artistic swimmers. There are 7 development levels in the areas of flexibility, strength & swimming physiology
The Artistic Swimming Skill Curriculum outlines the ideal skill development progressions for world-class artistic swimmers. This curriculum was designed to develop athletes that have the ability to perform a wide range of world-class skills. There are 11 development levels from beginner to High-Performance skills. Synchro Skills were mapped out against the FINA degrees of difficulty.
The Supplementary Skill Curriculum outlines the ideal additional skill development progressions for world-class artistic swimmers. These progressions were designed to complement the Physical Preparation & Artistic Swimming Skill Curriculums by developing the acrobatic, dance, and artistic components of Artistic Swimming and general movement literacy. There are 7 development levels in the areas of movement literacy, acrobatics, dance, and artistry.
Synchro Skills Program is the national-wide foundation program for artistic swimming in Australia and is the launching pad for all other programs delivered by Artistic Swimming Australia. The new program reflects on the long-term athlete in artistic swimming development focusing on developing aquatic literacy as well as providing an introduction to the sport.
Led by certified instructors, the program is designed to offer children content that is fun to learn while participating in a safe environment that incorporates a variety of basic physical skills in and out of water.
Through this program, participants will:
✓ Learn general physical literacy skills on land
✓ Learn aquatic literacy skills in the water
✓ Learn swimming skills and be exposed to water safety
✓ Be introduced to artistic swimming-specific skills
Each of the 6 levels of the program includes selected skills from each of the 3 skills progression areas that are aligned with the Artistic Swimming Skill Curriculum.
Levels are built to support entry-level/beginner/recreational participants through the foundation stages of FTEM development framework.
Allows easy transition between Synchro Skills Levels & FINA levels as circumstances change
Performance benchmarks for swimming skills, artistic swimming skills, physical abilities, and flexibility are outlined for each evaluation period.
Provides programming and resources to develop new and existing clubs where competitive programming or coaching is not currently possible or available
