If you’re interested in a taste of dragon boating come along to one of Monday or Wednesday training sessions. Then you’ll be hooked and busting to join the club. New paddlers are welcome to attend any of our on water training sessions. Safety aspects, rules and technical skills of dragon boating are covered at training sessions in a fun and friendly environment.

Your first 3 sessions are free. After that, you can join for as little as $50. Membership fees are detailed below, and you can join online

Where is Arafura Dragons Paddlers Club?

Our club house or ‘the cage’ is located at Cullen Bay Marina, opposite the Cullen Bay ferry terminal.  Getting to the cage is via a decked walkway that is opposite the ferry terminal. Come through the walkway;  follow the Arafura Dragons arrow sign down the stairs to the right onto the lower level board-walk. The club cage is at the end of the board-walk. Look out for the purple club flag.

All equipment including paddles and life jackets are provided by Arafura Dragons, however it is recommended to bring the following items:

  • hat
  • sunscreen
  • towel
  • bottle of water

Your first 3 training sessions are FREE.

After 3-free visits, ALL paddlers must register for insurance purposes with the Australian Dragon Boat Federation (AusDBF) for 1 year:

Adult $30 pa
Under 24 $20 pa
Under 18 $15 pa

In addition, club fees are:

  12 months 6 months 3 months

So after your 3 free sessions, adults can join for as little as $50 ($30 annual AusDBF membership + $20 for 10 sessions).

Annual memberships are $30 + $250 = $280, which works out at about $2.50 per session.

We are a not-for-profit club, so we try to keep fees as low as possible. Fees go towards rent, boats, paddles, and other equipment.

Arafura Dragons accepts the Sports Voucher for the following:

  • Membership fees
  • Uniforms/club training shirts
  • Equipment (paddles, seats etc)
