To become accredited to Level 2, the trainee must have passed the written test (at the end of the theory session) and complete this practical assessment, as follows:

Trainees are required to demonstrate competency in the following areas.

• The safety briefing
• Using standard commands
• Voice projection
• Turning left and right
• Setting up on the start line
• Reversing into a pontoon
• Turning around buoys as in a 2k race (or the 1k at Lake Ruger for the Aoraki Open).

If the practical test is completed successfully, the trainee will advance to Level 2.
