About Us
Angels Hockey Club was formed on 7th February 2025 with the merger of McAuley Hockey Club and Village Angels Hockey Club. The merger provides further opportunities to develop our important young players, giving them an opportunity to progress through the grades. It also provides flexibility for families to play together, and mature players to take a step down when they wish within the friendship circle of our club.
Angels Hockey Club aims for all members to enjoy a healthy weekend activity together with friends. We take pride in the inclusive nature of our club and its social cohesion, both on and off the turf.
We have a strong volunteer base, who work tirelessly to ensure our club runs smoothly and that the players receive quality coaching and enjoy the social and mental health benefits of community sport.
History of our Merger Clubs
McAuley Hockey Club (previously known as Cardinals Hockey Club) was established at St Mary’s College in 1965. It underwent the name change to McAuley Hockey Club in 1990, when the local Catholic High Schools amalgamated. McAuley Hockey Club grew out of the strong school clubs’ history in Grafton Women’s Hockey.
The Village Angels Hockey Club was formed in 2001. It was a small, close knit and very family-orientated club who enjoy spending time together on and off the pitch, and fielded one Senior Women’s team.
