Autumn Camp – March 31-2 April 2023
- Point Wolstonecroft
It’s fun, it’s friendly, it’s exhausting and exhilarating, and it’s on again - it’s the AHA’s annual Autumn Training Camp! It's open to AHA members of all ages and all belt levels and now is the time to register to attend!
!!! PLEASE NOTE the cutoff dates for registering for the camp AND ENSURE you read the registration information below. Failure to register by the stated dates will render you unable to attend (NO exceptions). These conditions have been imposed by the Office of Sport (not me). !!!
This year's camp will be held at the NSW State Sport and Rec centre at Point Wolstonecroft, which is almost directly across the lake (south) from the old Myuna Bay facility and has drive up access. For further information about the venue, including photos, please paste this link into your internet browser https://www.sport.nsw.gov.au/sport-and-recreation-centres/point-wolstoncroft
The camp is a great mix of training and fun that will allow you make a huge leap in your understanding of Hapkido and at the same time meet other like-minded martial artists. In this environment you get to meet, train with and socialise with other students and instructors - including our 6th and 5th dan masters - all of whom will provide helpful hints, training tips and new challenges – this sometimes includes ‘Aquakido’, where Hapkido meets the swimming pool!
Important!!: Registering for the camp is a two-step process.
Step 1 is to register (and, if possible, pay) via the AHA website. This must be done prior to 17 FEBRUARY 2023, as I have to give them our final numbers on this date. ABSOLUTELY no additions can be made after 1 MARCH 2023. Withdrawals/cancellations can be made after this date but I cannot guarantee that you will be able to get a refund. I am required to provide the Office of Sport with our final numbers by/on 1 March, including a breakdown by age (adult, teen, child) and who is coming for the whole weekend and who for just one day. [Note: payment is optional at this time.] Once you have registered you will receive an email containing a link to the Office of Sport’s online Medical and Consent form.
Step 2 is to complete the Office of Sport’s online Medical and Consent form. Note: a separate form is required for each and every attendee. This form is compulsory whether you are training or not – i.e. non-training parents/guardians must complete a form for themselves too. Failure to complete this form (by Friday 10 March 2023) will mean that Point Wolstonecroft will not consider you to have registered, rendering you unable to attend the camp. The information that Sport and Recreation needs about you includes:
- medical conditions
- food related allergies (because our program is catered)
- special diets (because our program is catered)
- medication
- emergency contact details
- media consent
Prices:
Full weekend - training adult (18 years and over) - $265.00
Full weekend - NON-training adult (18 years and over) - $245.00

The full camp price includes all meals and accommodation from Friday evening till Sunday after lunch. Note the last training session of the camp is Sunday morning 9am to 12 noon, followed by lunch and tidy up of the lodges. Most people depart by 2pm, although we have access to the site until 4pm. Dinner is served at 6.30pm sharp. We realise that not everyone can arrive by that time on the Friday night, so we will contact all registered attendees closer to the camp date to confirm who will be requiring Friday night dinner.
Accommodation is in 3 lodges, each of which is divided into a number of rooms with bunk beds and each of which has a large common area with comfortable seating, a large screen TV and DVD player, and a common kitchenette. The lodges have heating and airconditioning and each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, fan and storage shelving. The complex also has various sporting facilities available to us during our stay including the pool, tennis courts, beach volleyball court, basketball courts etc (BYO equipment - balls, racquets, clubs, etc).
Bring a pillow and pillow case (pillows no longer supplied by the site for hygiene reasons) and either (1) a sleeping bag or (2) sheets and a doona, also toiletries. A suggested packing list will be provided closer to the camp weekend.
P.S. For anyone intending to fly in, Newcastle airport is the geographically closest to Point Wolstonecroft, while Sydney's Mascot airport provides easier transport (train) links and (if required) pickup/dropoff at selected Central Coast railway stations (by yours truly and my hubby [and 5th dan] Ron).

Parents/guardians!: All children under the age of 15 years must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian for the entire weekend (a reduced registration fee is offered for such parents/guardians - conditions apply). All children will be carefully supervised during training sessions over the weekend – just as they are during their regular classes - HOWEVER we do not provide general supervision for unaccompanied children. If a parent or guardian will not be available, a child under the age of 15 may still attend if another adult from the child’s club agrees to supervise that child for the duration of the camp (the parent/guardian must confirm the name of the supervising adult at the time of registering such a child for the camp). The supervising adult can be a black belt, a coloured belt or a non-training adult.
Many thanks
