The ABS is sorry to inform members that former member John Ballantyne recently passed away after a long illness.  John was a keen aviator having flown many types, both VFR and IFR. He and Cathy were active ABS members for many years from about mid-1990s up until about 10 years ago, participating in several flyaways (including to New Caledonia and New Zealand) in their B55 VH-KEG, a larger twin Cessna and an A36 brought out from the USA as well.  John and Cathy also hosted an ABS Christmas party in Melbourne on their boat.
