NSW WINTER EVENTS RETURN

With the announcement of the new NSW Public Health Order, from the NSW Government, permitting 500 participants at community sporting events, Athletics NSW have announced the return of a remodeled 2020 Athletics NSW Waratah Championship season,

The lockdown might be on but it’s time to start training

In these times of Covid -19 although we cannot train as a group at the moment, remember we can still run in the park. For example for two sprinters at a time the Mutch Park hill has not moved and the same applies for the distance runners, along with the option of doing the coastal run with someone else, as you can train in groups of two. There are also a number of things you can do at home to get a jump start on the season ahead.

NSW Junior Athletics Championships

This weekend a number of our senior club members will be competing at the NSW Junior Athletics Championships at S.O.P.A.C in an attempt to qualify for the nationals . The event starts on Friday 21/02/2020 and concludes on Sunday 23/02/2020.

South Sydney Senior Athletes compete well in extreme conditions

Under arduous conditions a number of South Senior Sydney Athletics club members competed at the regional championships held at Barden Ridge athletics track. On Saturday temperatures peaked at around 46 degrees and as a result after suspending competition at around 11.30pm competition was ultimately postponed at around 6.00pm and had to be completed on the following day after all Sunday events had been completed.

Christmas and New Year has come and gone , however the athletics continues. It wont be too long before the The NSW Combined Championships which enables athletes to qualify for National and International competitions and set state and national records is upon us. It commences Sat 25 Jan 2020 09:00 to Sun 26 Jan 2020 17:00. Registration for this event close on Wed 15 Jan 2020 10:00.

South Sydney Dual Registered Athletes Progress

After two solid days of competition on the weekend of the 7th & 8th of December 2019, at the Inner West zone carnival, all South Sydney Senior Athletics Club dual registered athletes and a few younger athletes who have decided to join the south Sydney senior club progressed through to the regional championships in 2020 with no exceptions.

Dual registered South Sydney athletes smash club records and perform well at Randwick Botany Little"A" club championships and prove a commitment to attending training and working hard pays dividends.

Fundraising money for South Sydney Senior Athletics Club

South Sydney Athletics Club has managed to set up a pay pal account for South Sydney Athletics Club. This will enable club members and other individuals or organisations to deposit bottles and other suitable containers into recycling centres, so the club can receive much needed funds.

NSW SENIOR CLUB STATE RELAYS

The year 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic Campbelltown Athletics Track’s opening, and to celebrate the milestone, the track will play host to the ANSW State Relays Championships on the 23rd & 24th of November, 2019.

The New One Athletics Proposal

Athletics NSW .CEO Kirin Lindop has announced a proposal for the future of athletics in Australia . The One Athletics Proposal is the concept whereby Athletics Australia and Little Athletics Australia unite , to transform into one of the largest participation sports in Australia, which establishes a clear logical pathway for Australian athletics.

Weekly Athletics Training

Training for South Sydney Senior Athletes of all ages is available at Hensley Athletics Field Tuesdays & Thursdays 5.30pm to 7.00pm and at Mutch Park (off Wentworth Avenue) 9.30am to 11.45am every Sunday morning.

The 2019/2020 Athletics season is just about upon us and South Sydney Senior Athletics Club is looking for new members. If you are aged between 12 and 100 and have a competitive athletic spirit we are only too happy to have you become a part of the South Sydney Athletic Club family.

South Sydney Senior Athletics club says welcome to Randwick Botany Little Athletics Clubs new season , you may not be aware of this but as a member of Randwick Botany Little “A”s’, if you are aged from under 12 to Under 17, for a small fee you are entitled to dual membership with South Sydney Senior club .
