In these times of Covid -19 although we cannot train as a group at the moment, remember we can still run in the park.
For example for two sprinters at a time the Mutch Park hill has not moved and the same applies for the distance runners, along with the option of doing the coastal run with someone else, as you can train in groups of two.
There are also a number of things you can do at home to get a jump start on the season ahead.
This weekend a number of our senior club members will be competing at the NSW Junior Athletics Championships at S.O.P.A.C in an attempt to qualify for the nationals . The event starts on Friday 21/02/2020 and concludes on Sunday 23/02/2020.
Under arduous conditions a number of South Senior Sydney Athletics club members competed at the regional championships held at Barden Ridge athletics track. On Saturday temperatures peaked at around 46 degrees and as a result after suspending competition at around 11.30pm competition was ultimately postponed at around 6.00pm and had to be completed on the following day after all Sunday events had been completed.
Christmas and New Year has come and gone , however the athletics continues. It wont be too long before the The NSW Combined Championships which enables athletes to qualify for National and International competitions and set state and national records is upon us. After two solid days of competition on the weekend of the 7th & 8th of December 2019, at the Inner West zone carnival, all South Sydney Senior Athletics Club dual registered athletes and a few younger athletes who have decided to join the south Sydney senior club progressed through to the regional championships in 2020 with no exceptions.

Training for South Sydney Senior Athletes of all ages is available at Hensley Athletics Field Tuesdays & Thursdays 5.30pm to 7.00pm and at Mutch Park (off Wentworth Avenue) 9.30am to 11.45am every Sunday morning.
