Christmas Paddle 2023

What better way to kick off the festive season break than a relaxed paddle up and down the Yarra, with a CYSM style picnic feast pit stop in between,

Our Dragon Spirit

Congratulations and well deserved recognition for Club President Sue Phung on her 2023 Dragon Spirit Award from Dragon Boat Victoria.

An experience at BoB2023

A brilliant start to race season 2023/24 with Battle on the Barwon, an experience that our db debutants will not forget in a hurry. For Jo Lawrence, it was one that will motivate her in a sport where community and family is what it is all about. Let's hear from Jo and get a wrap up for BoB2023.

A season to celebrate

Club President Sue Phung reflects on the season that was, acknowledging the hard work and the successes that came to bear. A special thanks to our captains, coaches, captains and our CYSM headquarters for their unwavering support. With all the club success, we also celebrated the individual standouts for the season.

AusChamps2023 our best yet

The crews win the races but the club win the medals. This was another great campaign. We grow stronger every year and this year was no exception. Our best performances yet!

VicChamps2023 bling

Our best state championships yet with medals in 15 out of the 19 categories that our team entered into.

Success at Lunar New Year 2023 regatta

Our crews enjoy success at DBV's Lunar New Year regatta. This bodes well for our preparation for the upcoming State and National Championships.

Christmas paddle 2022

Today, we took to our traditional pre-Christmas river run and and lunch. A paddle down the Yarra River in Melbourne before disembarking for an elaborate food sharing experience. Then back onto the boat to work off some of the over-indulgence.

Our Auroras

Through months of training, commitment and sacrifice, six Sea Dragons will represent Australia as part of the national Auroras squad at the 14th Asian Dragon Boat Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.

One year on

As we prepare for the first regatta for Season 2022/23 that will take place on the Barwon this coming Sunday, we pause to take stock of just how far we've come as a club. Today (21 July) marks the 1 year anniversary since the passing of our beloved Coach Joe and we reflect on the poignant words spoken by Chris "Crispy" Phoumsavanh at Joe's service.

Celebrating Season 2021/22

On Sunday 22 May, the CYSM Sea Dragons family held its End of Season 2021/22 Dinner and Awards night. Such occasions are about celebration, reflection and looking forward to the new season.

A TON of fun!

As we enter the final stretch of the Dragon Boat Victoria racing season, culminating in VicChamps and then onto AusChamps for 2022, a past story from Anthony (aka Ton) Alvior comes to mind. At the time, he spoke of his first regatta and what it has meant to him. I think we all feel the sentiment, newbie or veteran alike.

Twenty-two!!

After her first competition with the Sea Dragons at the 2016 Lunar New Year regatta, Connie Li Wai Suen knew the time for a Women's 20s crew would come. With a PhD in mathematical statistics, she knew the odds that a dedicated crew, training, recruitment and time would offer. Fast forward to the 2022 Lunar New Year regatta - let's hear from Connie again.
