Dragon Boating on the Clarence

Discover the sport of dragon boating!  We paddle on the mighty Clarence River at Yamba, where the river meets the sea. Featuring an abundance of wildlife and beautiful vistas, the Clarence is a stunning backdrop for dragon boating, and the perfect place to start the day.

What to expect: 
Training sessions begin with a warm-up and safety drill. Sessions comprise strength and conditioning, timing and teamwork, training for regattas, and social paddles. Each session is overseen by experienced Coaches and Sweeps and all levels are catered for. 

What to bring: Wear comfy clothing (shorts, leggings, t-shirt or gym shirt, long-sleeved top in colder weather), water sports/reef shoes (no thongs or bare feet), a bottle of water, and sun smart essentials (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses). Dragon boating is a water sport, so expect to get wet!

Equipment: New paddlers can loan a club paddle and a personal floatation device (PFD) which is mandatory for anyone who cannot swim 50 metres unassisted.

Come & Try: The Clarence Coast Dragon Boat Club is open to anyone over the age of 12. The Club focuses on building fitness, strength, and technique in a fun and supported environment. For a FREE 28-day Dragon Pass sign up via the Membership page. Paddlers must register before coming along to a training session.
